I recently purchased a Dolphin which did not come with a manual.
I have found it online and it suggests charging to 100% once a week.
Other ‘general’ advice on changing EVs says that to prolong battery life you should charge between 20% - 80% as the last 20% to top up to 100% takes more energy out of the battery.
Is it that because BYD uses a Blade battery, it is better to charge to 100%. The manual even says to charge from 10% - 100% every 3 months.
I just don’t want to shorten the battery life by not following ‘best practice’.
Charging to extend battery life
Just an update…….
From another forum I have heard that the way to treat the battery ‘with sympathy’ is to restrict charging to about 30% at a time (grazing). This adds about 87 miles which is more than enough for me to last several days.
I plan to not charge over 80% unless planning a long trip.
I will try the 10%-100% once every 3 months just to balance the cells. Advice is not to leave it for a prolonged period at 100%.
